To begin with, its interesting to note that a large number of people who get started on their own weight loss program daily is astronomical. Equally huge is the number of them that are highly likely to give up before reaching their goal. What could be the cause of this? There is certainly plenty of good, solid and well written information available to be had. So it’s not lack of information. It must be something else.
Probably the biggest reason for failure is because people find the going tough and just give up way too soon. There are plenty of reasons for this, but one that stands out is the need to do thing too fast.
Haste lays waste to far too many people’s efforts. That’s because they get into such a scramble to see the numbers on their bathroom scales drop noticeably every day that when it doesn’t happen, they get demoralized and throw in the towel. There is a way to turn this around, but you need to understand a few things first. To help you to do that, here are five basic weight loss facts that might even get you to change your ideas and strategy for losing weight.:
1. Your Body
This is designed to maintain an ideal weight for its build and height, But when that balance goes out of alignment for whatever reason, you can gain weight or you can lose it. The good news is that a small shift in how you use your body can easily restore it into its natural alignment again, restoring your ideal weight.
2. Fad Diets
If you try to lose weight too rapidly by using fad or crash diets, you risk your health. The human body naturally reacts to any attempts to starve it by altering your metabolic rate to compensate for the reduction in nutrients. This slows the loss in weight as your body slows its processes down. As you end your diet and start eating normally, your body stores more fat in preparation for the next expected period of starvation. This is why you end up gaining it all back and some.
3. Exercise
Excessive strenuous exercise may cause muscle stress or damage, especially of you go at it too fast, too soon. The result is an inability to continue exercising, negating any beneficial work you may have begun top do. Always start slow and build up your exercises gradually to give your muscles a chance to adapt.
4. Calories
Cut your calorie intake through the food you eat and what you drink to a point where it is less than the number you burn through exercise until a perfect weight balance is attained.
5. Mental Attitude
A positive mental attitude is a powerful tool when you need to lose weight. When you believe you can do it, you will do it! Being positive means being motivated and motivation brings determination, persistence and results. Henry Ford once said that “Whether you believe you can or whether you believe you cannot, you are right.”
By having these totally great weight loss tips under your belt, you can count yourself lucky and in a better position to achieve the weight loss goals you set for yourself. So if you were feeling like you were on the wrong track or heading for a fall, you can now get yourself back on track and get your goal firmly back in your sights.
